Hyderabad: In a significant breakthrough, the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana police have arrested two men suspected of planning a series of bomb blasts in Hyderabad. The arrests were made during a coordinated intelligence-led operation carried out earlier this week.
One of the key suspects, identified as Siraj Ur Rehman (29), was apprehended from Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh. Upon searching his residence, authorities recovered a cache of potentially hazardous materials, including ammonia, sulphur, and aluminium powder substances commonly used in the assembly of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The second suspect, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was taken into custody in Telangana. Preliminary investigations suggest the duo were in the early stages of planning attacks, possibly targeting public areas in Hyderabad. Law enforcement agencies are currently interrogating both men to determine their motives, affiliations, and whether any larger network is involved.
Police have not ruled out the possibility of links to extremist groups or cross-border influences. Forensic experts are analyzing the seized substances, and additional raids are being conducted in connection with the case.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The investigation remains ongoing, with security tightened in sensitive zones of Hyderabad as a precautionary measure.
